The Lawyers
| Sarah Jacob has practised law for more than 20 years, specializing in estate administration, estate planning, real estate and corporate and commercial matters. Sarah spent her first three years of practice in the Toronto neighbourhood of Riverdale and seven years in Thunder Bay. In Toronto, Sarah was a director of the local community legal clinic and the child-parent drop-in centre. In Thunder Bay Sarah worked with the local homeless shelter, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Business Women’s Network. Sarah was one of the first women invited to join the Rotary Club of Fort William and assisted in the creation of a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. While living in Thunder Bay, Sarah also spearheaded the first two annual Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund fundraisers in the region. |

Sarah moved to Cobourg in January of 2001 to practice with Stewart, Mitchell & Macklin, the predecessor to SMM Law. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Cobourg and spent three years as a director of YMCA Northumberland. Sarah is currently a director of the Central Northumberland Chamber of Commerce.
| M. Ann Logan practiced law for 15 years in Toronto prior to moving to Cobourg in 2005 to join SMM Law Professional Corporation. Ann represents a variety of clients before the courts in Ontario as a civil litigator, and has worked extensively on family law, disability, labour relations, and employment matters. While living in Toronto, Ann volunteered for several years with the United Way of the Greater Toronto Area. Since moving to the Cobourg community, Ann has been honoured to become a member of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation Board and the Help Centre Board of Directors. Ann is currently Vice-Chair of the Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. Ann was recently elected by her colleagues as a director of the Northumberland County Law Association. |

Ann is available to consult with respect to all family law matters and to provide advice on any issues relating to civil disputes, including commercial and employment litigation.
Bruce Margles is a graduate of Queen’s University Law School with an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a BA in Economics from the University of Waterloo. Prior to entering the legal profession, Bruce ran a family business from a Cobourg-based head office for sixteen years. During those years he served as a director and President of the Cobourg & District Chamber of Commerce and was a Director of the Retail Council of Canada, where he also served as President of the Independent Stores Division.
He now focuses his practice on business law with a particular emphasis on the purchase and sale of business assets and shares, shareholder and partnership issues, employment-related issues, intellectual property law, including trademark applications, corporate reorganizations and contract negotiation, preparation and review.

Meaghan Adams joined SMM Law in July of 2009 directly after being called to the Bar.
Meaghan is a member of the Board of Directors of Northumberland Services for Women and a regular attendee of the Northumberland Business Women's Network and the Northumberland Business Network. Meaghan represents clients in the Ontario Courts, with a particular focus on construction lien law. She also is developing expertise in residential real estate and estate planning. |
